Mentoring & preparing teens to tackle the world

Because teens are preparing to graduate from high school and enter "the real world," this is a crucial time for them to understand what their Savior did for them as well as solidify biblical disciplines that transfer into everyday life.

Emphasis on selfless service & fun

TST campers spend half of their day serving their community and earning service hours, and the other half enjoying camp. They help in the dining hall, with outdoor projects and other needs. Through this time, campers learn the joy of living selflessly and serving others all while having a great time! At the end of the week, campers leave with a community service letter that documents the amount of hours they served. This is great for graduation requirements or National Honor Society!

Mentoring in small groups

Teens spend significant time with mentors in small groups, talking through real-life issues, focusing on deeper relationships with God and their peers, and developing a servant's heart.

Daily time for bible study, reflection, and discussions

Most days, campers will have solo time to dive into the scriptures themselves, small group discussions lead by their crew chiefs, and a time to reflect upon their TST experience thus far.

Helping teens figure out how they fit into the world

High school students are figuring out who they are and how they fit into the world. That is why a large focus of TST is community. A recurring theme on closing day of camp is the impact the campers had on one another during their time at SpringHill. Campers want to be known by their peers and to know others. That is why there is plenty of time to spend together doing fun activities, serving on camp, and engaging in corporate worship.

Valuable life skills learned through service

Campers serve on camp during their stay so there is a natural theme of service, and a focus on the attitude in which you serve. Other skills that are developed include independence, making friends, judgement skills, responsibility, work ethic, and adaptability.

Relationships and service are celebrated

We are intentional about celebrating the community and relationships that form in this program. At the end of any TST experience, campers participate in Banquet, where we celebrate the relationships formed, the service done, and the memories made. And if you're on a two-week team, you'll get to spend Saturday at our lake property tubing, playing volleyball, and grilling out. Its often during these times that we see relationships deepen.

Worship and Drama twice a week

Twice a week campers experience "Avenue." This is a fun large-group experience where they skits and/or videos, have a worship set with the band, hear a short talk given by a member of the TST resident staff, and wrap the night up processing through the experience with their small group.

Sharing stories around the campfire

TST campers spend many nights gathered around the campfire where they sing crazy camp songs and process through the day. A TST tradition is for campers and staff to share their personal life stories at campfire. This has a huge impact on campers because it helps them realize that struggles, temptations, and failings are shared by others.

"Because campers are preparing to graduate from high school, it's a crucial time from them to solidify biblical disciplines that will transfer into the real world."

Heather Cardneau / TST Director

"I came here for community service hours but I left with so much more. I am leaving with friendships and a stronger relationship with God."

TST programs also offer special opportunities for really connecting to God. There are specific times set aside for personal reflection, journaling, and solo prayer, while small groups provide a chance to discuss curriculum, examine real issues, and pray together with other campers.
