How Ignite is suited for pre-teen campers

Programming geared for pre-teen growth

Activities and Bible lessons are a little more grown up for your pre-teens. Campers meet and participate in both small and big group activities to deepen faith, including a live worship session on Wednesday night! Programs focus on individual camper growth and helping campers to make their faith applicable to their lives.

Meeting pre-teens where they're at

We take into account the fact that your camper is beginning to change in big ways. They are starting to make big life decisions on their own, branching out to new friend groups, and realizing the importance of having a healthy community in their life. The programs, curriculum, and staff we hire are well aware of your camper's needs.

A safe environment for pre-teens to ask questions

Pre-teens are at a stage where they begin to make life changing decisions about their faith and how they can use it to impact the community around them. It is our job to provide a safe environment where they feel comfortable asking difficult questions and having meaningful conversations. SpringHill's staff are well-trained to direct your campers to biblical answers as well as back to your church or family community to find answers.

Themed housing that captures your pre-teen's imagination

Our facilities are designed to help captivate your camper's imagination. Cabin's are inspired by Indiana's history and transport you into another time! Jumpstart your imagination by staying in Timber Ridge Teepees, be a miner in Grouseland Hilltoppers, or enjoy a cozy stay in White Water Valley Wigwams. Your camper will be assigned a cabin area based on age, program and roommate requests.

Counselors trained for the pre-teen age group

Our staff to camper ratio is 1 to 7 to ensure that your camper is always being supervised and cared for. Each staff person is trained in childhood development of the pre-teen age group so, they are equipped to help them process the feelings and experiences they have at SpringHill. Our staff will appropriately challenge and encourage your campers to try new things while keeping them safe and teaching them more about their faith.

"SpringHill is an all around great experience. It teaches younger kids about being independent, offers a vast amount of time with God, and is just a lot of fun!"

How we care for your pre-teen camper

Helping your child grow in their faith

As a parent, we know it's important to see your child grow in their faith. This is also extremely important to us, and one of our main goals while your child is at SpringHill. Our counselors are young, passionate, fun role-models who are open about their love for God and God's love for your child. Our top goal is to integrate faith and fun throughout each day of camp. Counselors are always looking for teachable moments throughout the camp day.

Camp Counselors are emotionally invested in your child

Your child will be with the same counselors the entire week. This gives counselors the time to get to know your child and become emotionally invested in their lives. A counselor's sole purpose is to build relationships with your camper and make sure they are well taken care of and included at camp.

Your camper is never alone

Counselors stay in cabins with campers and spend the whole day with these cabin groups, participating in activities and leading small group sessions. We have additional counselors who run activities during the day and stay with your campers at night to provide extra support both at activities and in the cabins. This ensures that campers are never left alone and still get the individualized attention that they need.

Special care for campers missing home

Homesickness is not uncommon at camp - usually because it's a child's first time away from home for an extended period of time. We are aware of this and love to care for and pray for each child who is having a difficult time being away from home. Most of the time, homesickness occurs right before bed, so our counselors are trained in how to anticipate and care for a child who may be missing home.

Trained medical staff to manage your child's medical needs

Working with our professional medical staff, counselors ensure campers receive the treatment and medications they need. If your camper takes medications, they will receive the right dose at the right time, every day.

Policies and procedures to ensure your child's safety

At every level, staff members are not permitted to be alone with campers. Campers and staff must always be within view of others or in groups of at least three. Additionally, we make it a point to help educate parents on how to keep their children safe.

"My children have come home from SpringHill and have grown so much in regards to their faith and friendships."
