Safety
In every area, safety is our first concern for your
child. We engage multiple licensing and
accreditation agencies, consultants, partners and
vendors in areas ranging from medical and emergency
procedures to food service and staff training. We
are also accredited by ACA (American Camp
Association) and licensed by the State of Michigan.
Staff Selection
We have searched the country high and low for the
most amazing and caring staff just for your child.
This year we anticipate receiving 2,200 staff
applicants, conducting over 1,500 interviews and
hiring only 800 staff — each personally
interviewed and background checked. We focus on
adult staff who are spiritually, mentally and
emotionally mature to ensure that your child is not
only in good hands, but also with good hearts. Once
they arrive at camp, staff receives 40-80 hours of
intensive job specific training.
Camper:Counselor Ratio
We want your child to have the best experience
during their week at camp, so we keep our in-cabin
counselor-to-camper ratio at one counselor for
every seven campers. for our younger campers, that
ratio is even lower: one counselor to every five
campers. We also have additional staff hired
specifically to run activities so counselors can
focus their energy on your child, making our total
on-camp, staff-to-camper ratio one staff person for
every three campers!
