Parent FAQs

  • Can you tell me about SpringHill?
    • SpringHill has a long history of delivering an outstanding camp experience to campers and families. You can find out more about the history at this website, springhillcamps.com/MI/about

  • What other programs does SpringHill offer?
    • SpringHill is more than a summer camp. We offer year-round programming that includes: Winter Teen Retreats, Women's Retreats, Family Camp, Group Retreats and much more. You can find out more at springhillcamps.com

  • How does SpringHill hire staff?
    • Each week we will send a team of energetic, Christ-centered students that will work as a team to provide an amazing Day Camp experience in your community. Our summer staff are hired after completing an application, screening interview, background checks, and providing multiple references. These staff members will have completed our training program, which includes camper care, behavior management and preventing and/or identifying child abuse.

  • What does SpringHill do to help kids get along with their peers?
    • While your child is at camp, we level the playing field. We groups campers based on age. They travel with this team the entire week. Our counselors emphasize the importance of teamwork and respect.

  • What will my child's spiritual experience look like?
    • The mission of SpringHill is to create life-impacting experiences that enable young people to know and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Day Camp is a place to have fun, make friends and learn more about God. We will openly promote who God is and share Biblical truths from God's Word each and every day at camp through worship, music, prayer and small groups. However, we respect each individual camper's right to make their own decision regarding this important spiritual matter. Every staff member is a follower of Christ and will model Jesus-like character.

  • I'm thinking about send my camper more than one week. Does the camp experience change from week to week?
    • If your child will be attending more than one week of camp in the same program, the experience will be similar. If they register for a different program, the activities and experience will be different. They will also have different cabin mates and different counselors the second week.

  • What is your policy on behavior problems?
    • We do enforce a no tolerance policy at camp. All counselors are trained in our behavior management and anti-bullying policy. If a behavior does arise that causes a disturbance: the child is removed from the situation, there is a very caring conversation about a change in behavior. We partner with the camper to come up with a solution that works for everyone, grace is given, and consequences are enforced, if necessary. At no point will corporal punishment be allowed. If there is no change in the camper's behavior, the Camp Director will call the child's parent/guardian and discuss the options.

  • How do I request my child be placed with a friend/relative?
    • During the registration process one of the steps gives you the ability to request a roommate for your child. If you choose to invite a friend or relative to be in the same cabin as your camper, you will need to include the campers name and parents email address. An invitation email will be sent to the parents and they can deny or accept the invitation. This invitation will include a code that the parents will use to accept the teammate invitation. When you log into the parent zone, you will be able to see if the invitation has been accepted or is still pending. In order for the campers to be connected to each other, the invitation HAS to be accepted. The invitation can be accepted even if you have not finished the registration process.

  • Will you provide medical care at camp?
    • We depend upon volunteer physicians, nurses and EMTs as well as employ Health Officers for summer camp sessions. The medical staff respond to emergencies, distribute medications and provide basic first aid care for our resident campers.

  • How do you manage sunscreen application and hydration?
    • We ask that you send sunscreen with your camper. Our counselors will ask them to re-apply sunscreen after lunch if the cabin is scheduled to be outside. We encourage campers to bring a water bottle to camp. We provide water coolers at the outdoor activities.

  • What are the payment options for registration?
    • You can pay by cash, check or credit card. A $150 deposit is required to register. During the first week of May, final payment will be withdrawn from your financial institution that you provided during registration process. If you register after the first week in May, you will need to pay for camp in full.

  • What is the cancellation policy?
    • If cancellation is made after registration, it is forfeiture of your deposit. Cancellations within 21 days prior to camp start date will result in forfeiture of one half the cost of camp. No-shows for a scheduled camp will result in forfeiture of the full camp fee. Cancellations must be requested in writing (mail, e-mail or fax). Refunds will be mailed in the form of a check within 4 weeks of cancellation.

  • What do I do if my child is put on a waitlist?
    • When any of the camps reach their capacity, we will create a waitlist. This list is filtered by the date that you register your child. You will be contacted when a spot becomes available. If there are no remaining spots for that camp, we encourage you to look at the other camps that are offered.
