Updates from the Summer Camp Director for the week of July 21, 2008

Wednesday, July 23, 2008
It has been an incredible week so far and the campers are having a great time. Seeing all the kids with smiles on their faces as they participate in all that SpringHill has to offer is a real blessing for me.

If you were watching the news Monday evening, you likely heard that storms were predicted to roll through Jackson County during the night. Carey Edgren, Inpursuit Camp Director, stayed up all night tracking the weather to assure we could move campers if the weather necessitated such a move. We did have a large thunderstorm at about 3:00 AM Tuesday morning which required that we move kids to the dining hall...talk about an adventure! With all of our resident staff on alert, it only took a short time to get our RedBrush campers out of their housing areas and into the dining hall where they slept the rest of the night. We also had the InPursuit Pine Point boys move to the lodge.

I am pleased to report that everyone is safe which, as you know, is a primary concern for us. Our highly capable staff did a great job responding to the challenge of addressing the safety of the campers. Pray for us as we continue to reach out to kids.

We pray that you all are having a great week.
