Mission Uprising Father/Child Retreats

This year SpringHill Indiana will be the location and host of the Mission Uprising father/child retreats. These retreats, both a father/son and father/daughter, are brought to the SpringHill facilities as fathers work to further build strong relationships with their children.

Father/Son Camp

The father/son camps are designed and structured to create a shared experience between you and your son(s). Sometimes as fathers we are unsure how to engage in our sons lives in meaningful ways. Coaching them in sports doesn’t seem to work; watching them play sports doesn’t seem to either, although great things to do with your kids, there never seems to be any real connection. Our hope is this time spent together redefines your role as a father to your son(s) in both him and you. As described in the book Wild at Heart by John Eldredge, a boy derives his identity, his masculinity and the answers to his deepest questions about himself from his father. As fathers, God created us good and we carry a very powerful presence in our sons’ lives. This can be a double edge sword however. Think about your father, no matter how good he was or bad he was, there is still truth, in that, we looked up to him for guidance, for encouragement. The weekend will consist of lots of shared time with your son(s) doing fun stuff together. Available things to do are, the zip line, rock climbing wall, fishing, trap and skeet, canoeing, paintball wars. We will have 4 very short teaching moments throughout the weekend as well. We do want the boys to know that they have a heavenly Father who loves them as well. We guarantee you will walk away with a lifetime of memories. All of our camps a conducted at SpringHill Camp in Seymour, Indiana which is an awesome facility consisting of 740 acres of rolling trees along with 11 lakes including a 50-acre lake for lots of fishing and other fun stuff.

Activities

A number of activities are available and are optional and vary in price from $5 to $15. You will be able to register and pay for each activity at the event.

Here is a list of What to Bring items:

  • Bible
  • Very Casual clothes
  • Adventure clothes (paint ball, solo challege, etc.)
  • Good walking shoes
  • Notebook and pen
  • Sleeping Bag and Pillow
  • Towel and toiletries
  • Chairs for sitting around cabin
  • Fishing gear(optional)
  • No alcohol allowed on premises
  • Smoking permitted in designated areas.

Father/Daughter Camp

The father/daughter camps are designed and structured to create a shared experience between you and your daughter. Most of the time as fathers we are unsure how to engage in our daughters lives in meaningful ways. Daughters are even more difficult than sons in this area. They are little women and let’s face it; we have...n’t scratched the surface of understanding the full grown women in our lives yet! Most of us find that coaching them in sports doesn’t seem to work; watching them play sports doesn’t seem to either, although great things to do with your kids, there never seems to be any real connection. Our hope is this time spent together redefines your role as a father to your daughter(s) in both her and you. As described in the book Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge, a girl learns what it means to be a woman from her mother and from their fathers the value that a woman has, the value they have as a girl. They learn mercy and tenderness from their mother BUT as far as the BIG Question, “Am I lovely”, “Am I captivating”, that is answered by their fathers. We hold a very powerful presence in their lives and they will forever look to us to answer those questions. The weekend will consist of lots of shared time with your daughter(s) doing fun stuff together. Available things to do are, the zip line, rock climbing wall, fishing, horseback riding, and canoeing. We will have 4 very short teaching moments throughout the weekend as well. We do want the girls to know that they have a heavenly Father who loves them as well. We guarantee you will walk away with a lifetime of memories.
